Secondary color: The second colour used on the page, it is said to "support" the primary colour and is usually pretty similar
Highlight color: This is a color that is used to emphasize certain parts of the page. It is usually a color which constrasts more with the primary and secondary colors, and as such, it should be used with moderation. It is common to use a complimentary or split-complimentary color for this.
This is the colour wheel, It is very useful in designing the website and making sure that the colours you choose to use on your website combine together to give it the desired feel while also being asthetically pleasing.
The pictures below show the common ways to use the color wheel:
Analog colours - Analog colours are colours that are located on either side of any colour, the use of these is said to give a website a "harmonious" feel, very often the secondary colour is analog.

Complementary colours - Complementary colours are directly opposite eachother on the colour wheel, the use of complementary colours is to make the two colours stand out from eachother, this is why they are often used as the highlighting colour.
Split complementary colours - This is the colour that is analogous(eitherside of it) of a complementary colour. This is a design that gives a high contrast but not to the same extent of normal complementary colours. It is more harmonious.

Triad colours - Triad colours are three colours that are equidistant from eachother, triad colours are mostly used to have a colourful yet balanced colour scheme
